Asustek e-book reader to feature 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX
Asustek's upcoming e-book reader is touted to offer something different from the rest in the market in terms of connectivity, where it will boast 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX mobile technologies rolled into a single device, thereby ensuring that you are able to stay connected through a variety of methods at all times and under all circumstances, barring the lack of battery life, of course. These e-book readers are tipped to arrive at European and American telecom-service providers in March next year. Image from Slashgear.

Pedestrian-powered Pavegen stone harnesses kinetic energy
Power by the people is power for the people! Generating power out of every step of pedestrians is not too common. We have seen dance clubs generating energy from dancer?s thumping on the dance floor. Now Laurence Kemball-Cook intends to trap energy out of more than 50,000 pedestrians everyday on a busy street by paving a stone. The rubber Pavegen stone will produce kinetic energy when it is stepped on. When it flexes 5 mm, the dynamo technology will...

?EZ Power Crusher? crushes can without electricity
Tired of all those aluminum cans horded in your house and only occupying space? Most times even when we discard these cans, they aren?t really discarded sensibly. EZ Life LLC has finally come up with a smart way of discarding these cans without using power, that is, without electricity. The ?EZ Power Crusher? crushes cans, but without power. It crushes the cans in a matter of seconds using compressed air. This is a very smart move I feel, and...

The Air Board
Fancy your very own personal hovercraft? Then check out the Air Board, which hovers 20cm above the ground, it certainly looks like a fun way to travel, mind you I am not sure if you would be able to use it to travel to work.
The Air Board can travel at speeds of up to 15 MPH, and you will get about an hours continuous use out of it on about 1.3 gallons of gas.
As you can see from the photos, it looks like a giant lawnmower, and it features a steering bar, which you use to control which direction it travels in, and also acceleration and braking.
It certainly looks like a lot of fun, check out the video below, of a prototype version in use.
If you want one, the Air Board is available for about $14,000 from Air Board.

Twitter Peek: a mobile device that handles Twitter and that's it
Are you really into Twitter, but not into having a cellphone capable enough to run a Twitter app for you? Would you rather carry two devices of limited functionality around with you than one that can do multiple tasks? Uh, OK. Well, the Twitter Peek is designed with you, and few other people, in mind.
The Twitter Peek is a wireless device that can handle Twitter and only Twitter. No phone calls, no email, no mobile internet, no nuthin', just Twitter. There's no word on pricing on this guy, but I'll stick to using Tweetie on my iPhone, thanks.

Save power without having to unplug from the socket!
Did you know every time your phone gets charged and when you yet haven?t unplugged it from the socket, the electricity units still get counted? In other words, the electricity is still being consumed. Though many of our ecologically conscious friends will feel the pinch, for the not so conscious people also the pinch is felt on the pockets. Designer Yong-jin-Kim has come up with a way to cut the electricity out once the charge is done even without...

Bloody Evidence Chef?s Knife
Platefuls of Halloween baked goods and buckets of Halloween candy aren’t the only things that you can keep around the kitchen as you get into the spirit of Halloween. Something like a Bloody Evidence Chef’s Knife is both a scary, funny and useful prop that you can add to the knife rack. The knife is a real chef’s knife with fired-on blood spatter that will not come off during washing or use, and is completely food safe. Imagine coming out of the kitchen with a big pie to slice up in one hand and this knife in the other! I would think that it would also make a fun gift for fans of the Showtime TV show, Dexter.

Future In A Flat Spin: Horizontal Wind Turbines
(Image via: Inhabitat)
As world-savingly admirable as wind turbines are…well, they kinda stick out. Putting aside the question of whether the colossal wind-turbines we are growing accustomed to seeing are bad for our health or for local wildlife – they’re definitely bad for the view. In fact they’re as incongruous as lamposts in a field of corn. But maybe we don’t need acres of whirring behemoths – we should just design our homes a little differently. Here are three examples of how we might achieve this.
(Image via: Inhabitat)
Released last year, the Broadstar Aerocam (pictured above and top) is a multi-layered horizontal turbine that follows the wind around at a price translating to less than $1 per watt. Its blades continually adjust to find the optimum pitch to bite into the wind, collecting energy the same way the surface of an aircraft wing collects lift. The Aerocam units can be positioned at points between or atop buildings where the wind i
